Harvard, McGill and Cambridge University Press are a few familiar publisher names that remind us that in addition to teaching, academic institutions disseminate scholarly information and knowledge. In the past only these large well-endowed institutions could afford the infrastructure costs for such a service. The advent of open source digital publishing suites makes it possible for every Internet connected library to provide digital authoring, technical resources for their members. This workshop will show how libraries can become a community authoring haven, where eBooks, school annuals, community history and more can be authored, published, cataloged and promoted for all all the world to read.
